About the Event
Art is a lifelong study. There are many who understand and love creation because of its limitless capacity - but what happens when these very strengths become insurmountable obstacles?
The act of creation and mental health have always been connected, and it is not uncommon for any artist or designer to face struggles with productivity, inspiration, and procrastination in their process. Whether it be because of comparison, a sense of overwhelming odds, "blank page syndrome", imposter syndrome, social media woes, anxiety, depression - or if you're lucky, a mix of everything and more!
Creating is a job - and for any job to be done well, there has to be a payment. How are you treating yourself while creating? Are you rewarding your efforts or punishing yourself for not doing good enough? Are you constantly comparing yourself to other artists and not to your own progress? Are you comparing old sketches, when you were "in a better space" and giving up? Do you feel like its all kind of impossible? Are you giving yourself a task that no one, including yourself, can actually complete?
This workshop will not replace a good therapist, nor will "fix" you overnight. We also do not claim to have "an answer". Be wary of quick and easy solutions, as they often fall apart as quick as they were to implement. This workshop will instead give you a few questions to ponder, and help you identify the issues stopping you from creating.
You are not required to discuss or disclose anything, and we will impose time limits on discussions to make sure everyone has a chance to speak.
*note - This event is online and 100% free for everyone. It will also be recorded and stored on our archive for access for Blank Space members.
